Special service: Minorities commemorate independence
Number of Hindus in Pakistan has decreased to one per cent from 20 per cent at the time of independence.

A special service was organised at the St John’s Cathedral Church to commemorate Pakistan’s independence. Speaking at the occasion, Dr Yousuf Masih Yaad highlighted the contributions of Christians in the Pakistan movement. “We are happy that we live in an independent country,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hindu community representatives, on the occasion, asked the government to investigate why the number of minorities has decreased in the country. Chairman All Pakistan Hindu Rights Movement Haroon Sarb Diyal said the number of Hindus in Pakistan has decreased to one per cent from 20 per cent at the time of independence.
