Talking to The Express Tribune, area Station House Officer (SHO) said that the bomb weighed at least 25 kilogrammes and had been defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad.
No arrests had been made so far, while police had registered an FIR against unknown persons.
The situation was normal in the area.
Earlier, a 12 kilogramme roadside bomb planted near Safoora Chowrangi was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad on August 10 – four days after a similar explosive was dismantled near the Rangers headquarters off Super Highway.
Both were believed to have been made by the same person.

We celebrate Independence day ... BUT .. We are not Independent and safe in our Country ..
May Allah SWT protect from such tragedies...I often go there
Thank God!!
Just a thought i doubt that our in competitive police just found the bomb ... its the 2nd one so far i think these bombs are left by groups warning and threatening next one will be set of if security agencies wont back off of certain actions they are taking or plan to undertake ( militants linked to talibans or bla ) but definitively they are tipping off the police later. Karachietes please be extremely cautions , vigilant and report all suspicious packages ,activities and people to authorities .. may be some one might do some thing , its our city we need to take some responsibility here
thank you khi police, you have seen an extended tense period
