Cricket: All-round Waqas stars for Gymkhana

Waqas and Noman Anwar both made 45 apiece to help their team chase down the target with two balls to spare.

KARACHI: Waqas Haroon starred with an all-round show to help Northern Gymkhana defeat Brothers CC Dadu by five wickets in their 17th Dr MA Shah Night Trophy quarter-final match at the Asghar Ali Shah stadium. Batting first, Brother CC posted 154 for eight with Zubair Mughal top-scoring with 44 while Muhammad Owais contributing 26. Saeed Mutabbir took three wickets while Waqas captured two important scalps. In reply, Waqas and Noman Anwar both made 45 apiece to help their team chase down the target with two balls to spare. Anwar cracked three sixes and half-a-dozen boundaries while Haroon clubbed two sixes and as many fours in his innings. Off-spinner Nasir Owais picked up three wickets in the losing cause.
