Law and order: ‘Criminal’ killed in shootout

SARGODHA: A proclaimed offender was killed in a police encounter on Friday. Police officials said two men stopped Ghulam Abbas, a resident of Bhakar Bar village, on Chachar Road and took away his motorcycle. A police team led by the Shahpur SHO gave a chase and were fired at. The police retaliated and shot one of the men Asif, a resident of Joharabad. His accomplice managed to escape. Police said Asif was a proclaimed offender wanted by Sillanwali police for killing Haji Ghulam Rasool, a jeweller, in June 2011. He was also wanted in several other murder and robbery cases. Police also seized a Kalashnikov rifle and bullets.
