New provinces: PML-N, Durrani to join forces for Bahawalpur province
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Movement for the Restoration of the Bahawalpur province (MRBP) will join forces for the restoration of Bahawalpur province, MRBP leader Muhammad Ali Durrani said on Saturday.
A delegation of PML-N wokers led by Samiullah Chaudhry, former PML-N MPA, called on Durrani at his residence.
Durrani thanked Senate Chairman Nayyar Hussain Bukhari for submitting a list of names for the Commission on the Restoration of Bahawalpur Province to the National Assembly speaker.
He said the senators recommended for the commission were competent parliamentarians and up to the task. He said the Punjab Assembly’s unanimous approval of the resolution to create the Bahawalpur province would never be forgotten.
He said he was grateful to the PML-N as well as the Pakistan People’s Party leaders for rising above party politics in acknowledging the rights of the people of Bahawalpur. He said the decision was a victory for democracy.
He hoped that the commission would be appointed in August and submit its report to the National Assembly within 30 days. He said all the major parties with representation in the National Assembly and Senate had already pledged their support for the cause in the Punjab Assembly. “There is no hurdle in the way of the parliament passing the constitutional amendment for the purpose,” he said.
He said 2012 would be the year the Bahawalpur province is created. Samiullah Chaudhry said the people of Bahawalpur should rise above political affiliations.

To check increasing ethnicity, Pakistan should have as many provinces as districts. And, districts should be restructured to facilitate management and should have no reference to ethnicity or parochialism.
Pakistan should have 500 provinces, one for each minister.
A very positive and mature statement by a politician of Pakistan! Other politicians should learn from this example and behave like humans. There is too much negative energy and hate mongering among the political parties and workers.
