Security threat: NATO driver wounded in IED blast

Injured was rushed to hospital where doctors discharged him after administering first aid.

PESHAWAR: A driver of a Nato container was injured in a roadside Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in tehsil Jamrud on Saturday. Asmatullah Wazir, an official of the political administration told The Express Tribune that a vehicle loaded with supplies for Nato troops in Afghanistan, was en route to the Torkham border checkpoint when an IED exploded near the vehicle, injuring the driver. The official added that the driver was rushed to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Landi Kotal where doctors discharged him after administering first aid. As the explosion occurred at a distance from the vehicle, only the windows of were smashed. The official added that soon after the explosion, the security forces, who were guarding the vehicle, rushed to the site and removed any pieces of shrapnel created by the blast to re-open the road for traffic.
