LHC CJ orders judicial inquiry into QMC case

Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khwaja Sharif has ordered a judicial inquiry into the police manhandling of students of Quaid-i-Azam Medical College in Bahawalpur.

The court gave the order during the hearing of a suo moto notice taken after police beat protesting medical college students in Bahawalpur. DPO Bahawalpur had been summoned to the court as well.

He told the court that students were never tortured by the police and video footage showing the incidents had been forged.

Meanwhile negotiations between QMC students and the college administration have failed to bear fruit. Students have closed the Out Patient Department of Victoria hospital in continuation of their protest. Students are determined to stand by their demands the most significant of which is the removal of the college principal.

Ali | 14 years ago | Reply It is indeed a shameful act, and the government should make sure that such events are never repeated, EVER. How can you expect the students of the country to stay home and serve their country while the police and the law enforcing agencies act in such a brutal manner?
