Ali, a private student hailing from Hafizabad district, is the eldest son of labourer Nazeer Ahmed among eleven siblings and works at a Tandoor in Lahore. Ali, who says he sleeps for not more than four hours a day, secured 688 marks in total.
On receiving the good news, his parents also arrived in Lahore from Hafizabad to celebrate, who found it hard to believe how well their son had done in exams. Customers and co-workers at the Tandoor told Express News that Ali was a hard-working person.
Ali hopes to continue with his studies and pursue a major in English, but regrets that the government has failed to provide students with opportunities and financial assistance – one of the reasons he claims he appeared as a private candidate.
The Punjab University announced the result of BA/BSc annual examinations 2012 on Saturday. As many as 1,43,750 students appeared in the examinations out of which 57,284 candidates succeeded in the examination, leading to a pass percentage of 39.85% this year.

Well done. Proud of You. Inspiration for all across Pakistan and India. Stay Blessed.
this guy definitely knows how to utilize his time best. brilliant! Congrats
Hats Off to the young man. A true role model for other youngsters.
This is one of those things that makes me feel proud to be a Pakistani. Kudos to Ali for hiis hard work and not giving up despite poverty. It also proves that poverty is no excuse for not working hard and being honest. Your hard work and success would be rewarded and in a few days you would have lot of financial support available. I am proud of you and would love to have a brother/son like you. Best of luck, go get it.
A true inspiration.
Great job..very proud of you.. Keep it up :)
Congrats, your hard work finally got paid ! I sincerely wish you all success for your future. you have given inspiration to millions other across the country ...
I hope that its not fake like the youngest Microsoft certified professionals. I think some good company, like unilever or sitara must sponsor this boy's future studies.
Bravo, young man!
Contrary to the oft-repeated talk of doom and gloom, Pakistanis are now taking education more seriously than ever. Youth literacy is about 70% and growing, and young people are spending more time in schools and colleges to graduate at higher rates than their Indian counterparts in 15+ age group, according to a report on educational achievement by Harvard University researchers Robert Barro and Jong-Wha Lee. Vocational training is also getting increased focus since 2006 under National Vocational Training Commission (NAVTEC) with help from Germany, Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands.

Congratulations to you, young man! Thousands of miles away, I feel proud of you. Pakistan needs someone like you at the helm – someone who knows the value of hard and honest work. If someone like you one day becomes Pakistan’s prime minister, Pakistan’s destiny will take a sharp turn toward progress.

@Zaid Hamid: i agree not possible without training by foreign powers. US, IN, IS.
Bravo!! Hope you get all you ever hope for...
Now please don't spoil this by vowing to join the Civil service in future. Good luck.
Heartiest congratulations to you from across the border. Pakistan needs shining stars like you to be proud of.
Unfotunately this bright young man will be waste in this corrupt sceity.
Hats off brother. You really inspired me.
Can someone confirm on how to reachout to this individual? How can we support this young talent? Thanks
At last good news..It is the grass root we should be looking at.
Great job Muhsen. But did anyone notice that his 68.8% was a "record breaking" score. Education needs to set higher standards.
"Where there is a will there is a way." Congratulations young man. Keep it up.
Very Well done Ali.
He is a shining star of Pakistan. Wish him best of luck in future.
Congratulations to Mr.Ali and his parent on this brilliant success.
@ sam, good advice. The guy who is selling fruits after completing his M. Com. should have started his business soon after post graduation instead of wasting nine years in job search. I can guarantee that if fruit seller kept on doing his business with honesty and passion, he would be much better than his collegues who found clerical jobs in office environment.
Cordial Congrats, now prepare to leave Pakistan, here is nothing attractive for you.
Heartiest congratulations to Muhammad Muhsen Ali who despite not doing a white collar job has secured first position in BA Exams.
While reading few other examples made by similar students, people belongs to lower class are coming up slowly and gradually while the students from the well to do families are lagging behind in their studies.
The core reason behind the success of Muhammad Muhsen Ali was that neither he was having the facility of internet connection, nor he had time to send SMS to his friends and colleagues.
Students who work hard are rewarded by the Al-Mighty Allah.
I am proud that Muhammad Mushen Ali broke all the previous precedents and have passed his BA exams with flying colours.
Muhammad Mushen Ali should become a living example for all those students who despite having all the facilities and time could not come up with desired results.
Congratulations well done, and thank you for making us proud to be Pakistrani, Muhammad Muhsen Ali. Thank you Express Tribune for making us aware of his achievement, and feeling a sense of pride that Pakistan is made up of people like him who despite all odds, still excel. I hope philanthropists and corporate social responsibility programs reach out to help persons like him to pursue their studies.
Congratulations to you and your parents, job well done and keep up the good work. There is no shame in working with your hands in your brothers shop and as matter of fact I have more respect for you than those who has not put in an honest day of work in their whole lives.
this is Pakistan!
Well done Mr. Mohsin you make us proud. May Allah give you a good job in this country where hopeful people are declining to hopeless.
Only in Pakistan with poor labour with11 kids get there graduate degree. In any other country 11 poor kid either die , become street thug or turn into prostitution . All praise to Pakistan political leaders mainting ths and all the landlords and rich people paying other bills
Why Zardar's sahib awami party is reluctant to help this hero of Pakistan? Will the PPP will also come forward to encourage and support youth like him.
yar its better you stick in Tandoor because there are not many jobs available.people who have done M.A are just selling fruits and vegetables.
Congratulations, If I were you I'd seek some form of financial support immediately.
Congratulations to this young man on his great success. Thanks to MIan Sahib who is always the first one to appreciate and encourage our young heroes.
Excellent job done dear. May you succeed in life.
wiki is right...now go for CSS, bhayi...you can do it, IA
great job done........May you achieve all the success you deserve......let people all over the world emulate your example
Joy
India
Congratulations, you have done really brilliant job, lets say the guys who are unable to pass their simple exam even in AC building, how the young Ali got himself in the front row and secured first position beside his hard job of TANDOOR? Really good, again congratulation.
MUhammad MUhen Ali did great job with hardwork, all people are wishing him and Congratulating him on his brilliant success in B.A Exams. i wana deliver a message to the GOVT Departments to provide him a job for better future and higher education. we have talent but.........this is pakistan
Things like these make me a proud Pakistani, we are a nation full of talent yet to be harnessed. IA one day we will leave a positive mark on this world.
Congrats!!Muhammad Muhsen Ali......keep it up you have bright future!!
Will makes the way for Ali. But... less than half of the students passed, appalling. A lot has to be done in the education sector. In an era of human security, our defence budget thrives more than the education budget, and then a zillion useless ministries for beneficiary politicians. sad..very sad.
EXCELLENT, May Allah help to complete your studies. Hope that KHADM-E-ALA will have a photo session with you for the sake of next election compaign!!!! but will not donate anything from his pocket as he is poor!!!!
Gov. should immediately give him financial support for higher education and bear all his expenses, Respect for Muhsen
wow. well done young man. you deserve a scholarship to pursue your goals.
Hard work and Tawakal ultimately pays. I heard CM Punjab has announced his further education expenses which is much appreciated.
MASHALLAH, hardwork always pays
CIA, RAW involved.
well done young man . . !!!
