Wild card: Pakistan to play Hockey Champions Trophy in Australia
The decision allowing Pakistan’s entry in the tournament was taken during a meeting of the executive board of the International Hockey Federation.
The tournament, which is the 34th edition of the Hockey Champions Trophy, will be hosted by the defending champions Australia.
A total of eight teams including Netherlands, New Zealand, Germany, Belgium, India and England will be playing the tournament.
Team’s head coach Akhtar Rasool appreciated the decision granting entry to Pakistan and said that the team will do its best to reach the “victory stadium.”

@ Rahul.. indians should stop taking every comment centering on india as essentially an anti-india one. Master's question regarding india's inclusion in the champions trophy was a valid one given the dismal show put up by india at the olympics. his question didn't have to be taken in such a negative light.
Can Pakistan continue to afford huge expenses without any impromvent in performance or results? Is Pakistani economy big or rich enough not to care about these kinds of trips for this many people? I am not saying what is good or bad, just starting a debate.
@Master @Rahul India is playing because of Champions League rule that any team that end up in top 7 out of 8 in league will automatically qualify for next champions league.

pakistan got the card bcz of there 7th rankin in olympics and most likely bcz ppakistan started this event nd this will be the last annual champons trophy after which it will be played every two years. Giving india is a good omen as hockeys future lies in asia.

@Master coz India is global power , Cannot ignore India. By the way why are you jealous ?? And mind you pakistan has neither won gold, bronze or silver in hockey or any other sport. This is 5th consecutive time without medals.
Looking at the top teams contesting, the coach may be thinking again, 'Let's perform atleast better than India...' :p
How come India is playing in champions trophy.. they will finish 12 or something in the olympics.
