Pleading guilty: Court orders prison time for five men

Five men, who pleaded guilty before a district and sessions court

Five men, who pleaded guilty before a district and sessions court on Thursday, were sentenced and fined for committing different crimes.


Abdul Khaliq and Naushad, who were sentenced for the same period as they had already served, were fined Rs2,000 and Rs1,000 respectively. Khaliq was arrested by the police in possession of hashish and Naushad was arrested with a TT pistol during a search. Another accused, Muhammad Jahangir, pled guilty to possession of narcotics and was jailed for 45 days and fined Rs2,000. An FIR was registered against him in the Ibrahim Hyderi police station.

Two other men, Kamran and Basheer, pleaded before the court, saying “We don’t have the means to hire a lawyer and we can’t arrange a guarantor either”. They were arrested on charges of stealing cash and mobile phone from a man. They were both sentenced to jail for 90 days and fined Rs2,000 each.
