Attack foiled: Bomb defused in market

PESHAWAR: Police managed to intercept a bomb threat in Matani bazaar and diffused the bomb attached to a motorcycle. The device had been fitted to a motorcycle parked in the market, where it was spotted by people who informed the police. Police cornered off the locality and called the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), who successfully defused it. Talking to The Express Tribune, BDS official Hukam Khan said: “The device was at least eight kilogrammes and was homemade.” Qadar Khan, a local, said that it was first time that militants had planned an explosion in this market, targeting common people. “Had it gone off, it would have created massive havoc and destruction,” he added.
