S Asia woes: Access to clean drinking a ‘challenge’

ISLAMABAD: Asian nations are facing a daunting challenge to provide drinking water and sanitation to their citizens, where one billion people don’t use improved sanitation facilities and 700 million practice open defecation compromising on their dignity.  Governments in South Asia have been unable to provide these fundamental services, unveiled Media Scrap Book carrying published media stories from across South Asian countries. “Media Scrap Book”, which was published by Wash Media-South Asia, a representative body of journalists from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka working on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), was launched here Tuesday at National Press club.
