ISLAMABAD:
A conference in connection with “Minority Day” will be held here on Thursday. Around 400 people are expected to attend.
This was said by National Harmony Minister Dr Paul Bhatti, as he announced that National Minorities Day would be marked on August 11. The day will recognise the contribution, services and sacrifices of minorities in the creation of Pakistan.
He said the event will highlight the vision of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and acknowledge the sacrifices and services of minorities in building the nation.
“The day provides us with an opportunity to renew the pledge for the promotion of tolerance and interfaith harmony as in a pluralistic society, there can always be a divergence of opinion, but these differences can be resolved through interfaith harmony, which means cooperative and positive interaction between people of different religions, traditions, faiths, and spiritual or humanistic beliefs at all levels,” Bhatti said.
