Security measures: Pillion riding banned in Karachi

KARACHI: The provincial government has banned pillion riding in Karachi and Hyderabad under Section 144. According to a Sindh home department notification, pillion riding will be banned in Karachi from August 8 till August 11. In Hyderabad, the ban will be effective from August 9 till August 11. The government has also banned people from carrying and displaying firearms. This decision was taken as a safety measure for the death anniversary of Hazrat Ali (RA) on the 21st of Ramazan (August 10.) The ban is not applicable on women, children, the elderly and journalists.
