Presidential deeds

Letter August 07, 2012
I think the writer has hit the nail on the head in his article.

LAHORE: This is with reference to Asad Rahim Khan’s article “Presidential deeds” (August 7). As someone who is sick of hearing President Asif Ali Zardari being described as a Machiavellian genius instead of a crook who throws money and government positions at everyone who stands against him, I think the writer has hit the nail on the head in his article.

Gone is the hope that a leader can effectively galvanise Pakistan into reforming itself. Perhaps, the dream itself is not so far-fetched, but the fact that we have seen such ugly leadership for so long is making it sound more and more like a fairy tale. It won’t be easy to achieve this dream. Mr Khan has only mentioned the tip of the iceberg here, but even that is troubling. Hope to see similar articles that say something instead of just talking.
