You will rarely spot someone looking outstanding at a social gathering. We have gotten into a rut of looking alike and this lack of individuality translated into a the lack of personal style. Zahra Ayub, a young stylist from London, has a flair for fashion; currently settled in Los Angeles, the stylist talks to us about her style and individuality. We take a sneak peek into her wardrobe and ask her about her top 10 favourite items.
“My style is very versatile and eclectic,” says Ayub. “I go for different looks depending on where I’m going, the weather and what/who I’m inspired by on that particular day, as opposed to having one particular style I could easily define.”
“ I dress sort of hippie-ish at times, and a little bohemian – very much inspired by the ‘60s, ‘70s and borderline ‘80s fashion – but I also love all the modern day swag and old classic chic, like Jackie O and Grace Kelly. I think style is about showing your character through your outfit and that’s what I try doing.”
Ayub’s style comprises of combining high fashion apparel with high street and carefully accessorising so that it doesn’t take over the outfit.
Ayub’s top 10 fashion items:
1. High rise super skinny jeans by Aphrodite
2. Light blue denim blouse H&M
3. American Apparel V neck T- shirt
4. Hermes Collier de Chien leather cuff
5. Cartier Love Bracelet.
6. Pearl and gold Chanel earring studs (costume jewelry)
7. Leather jacket from Zara
8. Van Cleef & Arpels necklace
9. Christian Louboutin Pigalle Shoes
10. Huge ‘80s retro vintage sunglasses

Really!?!?! Pakistan is a failed state. With an extremely opportunistic culture. People are "things" that are easily disposed of....so lets brighten there days with an article about an ostentatious little girl. Substance?!?!?
Its such a bad co-incidence that I share my first name with her. I looked her up on the internet and she looks like some rich brat who has no idea of being a Pakistani or Pakistani fashion.Icon? A-hmmm?? No one has ever heard of her. I find Shahida Minni or Komal way better style icons than someone who relies on wearing western brands and tries to advertise to the wrong target audience. The reality of confused Pakistanis living overseas is that they never quite get to make into the western market and try to show their frustrations by flaunting their wealth here.
Give me a few thousand dollars and I will be a better "style-icon". Give me a break! and please I expect Express Tribune to get better content that is much more relevant.
v nice
I love her style
I agree with the comment above mine. People in Pakistan don't travel so for them it's like wow I wish I could dress like that but every girl in nyc or LA looks "fashionable". Why are we focusing on a western based stylist? How about doing an article that tells people how to dress in Pakistani clothing..like what kind of style, design, accessories to wear with it, etc etc. When do you ever see people dressed like this stylist on a daily basis. Firstly, it's a Muslim majority country so people won't be dressing the way that she does and with good reason: Islam does not permit it and you're supposed to be modest. Secondly, fine people don't exactly wear hijab in Pak, but who can afford loubotins, and love bracelts for thousands of dollars? Maybe she should look at her auidence and then think about ways for them to get a great look for less. The article starts off by saying we all look alike..it should say we all look like wanna be's but hey lets all start dressing like her now, that'll really help our individualism.
Pakistan's local designers are ridiculously expensive, even a lawn suit which the average joe should be able to afford has to think twice. The designers charge 2 3 lakh for a normal formal outfit, so why so much negativity over this.
Bitter much??? People's problem in Pakistan is not articles likes these, these articles merely entertain the audience and its categorized under "FASHION" so take a hike, and find something to do that makes you content with your own life because maybe then you wouldn't leave ridiculous comments under a harmless fashion article. People's problem in Pakistan is YOU, because you are bitter towards other Pakistanis, you've shown no respect, unity or appreciation to people who are actually doing something in their lives, besides leaving hateful comments. So essentially my friend, you are Pakistan's problem.
her style is very flash very look-at-me, less subtle luxury in quality and more tacky ostentation over brand name tat
Yes please advertise this branded stuff so that Pakistan's economy dies off for good. Very smart idea. First of all, everyone in Westernized countries looks like the "fashionable" person you wrote about. Stuff she's wearing is nothing to be impressed about. There is nothing special about Western fashion. Whenever I visit this country, all my friends want me to look "modern". There is nothing "modern" about it, it's a matter of culture. And Pakistan's culture is DYING because you dumb people advocate "western". What's the point of colonialism if you're going to bring this upon yourself? (Not that Pakistan's fashion right now is that great- what's with that ugly bag that goes down to your feet and makes you look like a freaking pregnant balloon? Bring back the normal beautiful stuff please.)
Second, maybe you people (not just the author, but everyone who writes such senseless articles) need a course in economics especially as it relates to your country. Do you think people in pakistan have the money to pay up to RS 50,000 for a pair of SHOES? (Never mind the prices are jacked up due to the fact that the state needs to protect whatever they have left and do not want their people buying such useless things)
The fact that the people who CAN afford these things are the people like that family who owns that baria town place or our corrupt politicians and "elites" who live off of our taxes and the foreign aid provided for the COUNTRY, not for their personal designer shoes. Everyone knows at the back of their head where the rich get their money from.
Instead of telling them to look like EVERYONE else, maybe you can tell them to not waste their money on imports and BUY LOCAL. BUY LOCAL STUFF if you want your economy to grow. SERIOUSLY.
