Govt, allied parties agree to replace 'illegal' Contempt bill with new law
Meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Saddar in a post-iftar meeting, all allied parties said agreed to dissect the new law on the floor of the parliament.
Reportedly, those present in the meeting drew strength from the President’s statement that “the Parliament is supreme.”
It is expected that an appeal will be filed against the SC decision on the previous law.
The meeting, attended by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, discussed the law and the decision by the apex court and the developing political situation in the country.
It was decided to review the deficiencies pointed out by the supreme court and come up with a new draft bill which will be debated in the parliament.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the deadline given by the Lahore High Court over President Zardari holding two offices, that of President of Pakistan and co-chairman PPP.
Since the meeting had been initially called two days ago to discuss the energy situation, the Prime Minister briefed the gathering on that front.

Our beloved CJ should have realised that this rule of law is the turf of PPP: and his charlatan claim to the throne of the Constitution while dislodging a democratic government will not be accepted without a fight.

Why the government and its allies are bent upon in creating a direct clash with the judiciary?
If the parliament is supreme than the parliament should respect the Constitution of Pakistan which was made by the PPP during Mr. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto tenure with the help of its coalition partner got the Constitution signed by every political and religious leader.

The elected coalition should listen to Dr. Ahsan and other lawyers who had reservations against this law. After a careful review of the SC decision they should draft a new law that is better than imposed by Gen Mush in 2003 and approved by the PCO SC judges then and once again now. The parliament is flexible, and openly debates and should not leave any excuse for the judges to stick to Mush's law of 2003.
PTI was right that all the political parties in the government including PML N will coalesce at the end to protect the corrupt mafias.
