Sentenced: Two jailed for stealing steel mill scrap

The Malir district and sessions court sentenced on Friday two men to 90 days in prison and a fine of Rs2,000 each.

KARACHI: The Malir district and sessions court sentenced on Friday two men to 90 days in prison and a fine of Rs2,000 each for stealing scrap from the Pakistan Steel Mills. Judicial Magistrate Ashfaque Mughal ordered prison terms for Akhtar Jameel and Muhammad Anwar, who had pleaded guilty before the court. The accused were caught by the security guards while stealing scrap metal from the Pakistan Steel Mills near Gate No. 9. The guards had seized two sacks from them filled with 50 kg of scrap material. A case (89/2012) was registered at the Bin Qasim police station. The accused pleaded guilty to the charge and appealed to the court for leniency, saying their domestic lives has suffered gravely. The men were convicted under Section 379/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
