Slow recovery: Water, gas shortage adds to the crises

PESHAWAR: Water and gas scarcity aggravated the residents of Hayatabad and Shaikhabad who were already suffering from incessant load-shedding. The areas worst hit by water shortage in the posh locality include phase 3, phase 4, phase 5 and phase 6, where people have resorted to other options to meet their water consumption demand. A Peshawar Development Authority official stated that the water shortage is due to the constant power outages and low voltage of electricity. On the other side, dwellers in Shaikhabad faced severe gas shortage during Sehr. To meet the customers’ demand, bakers have started using petroliam. A resident of the locality told that due to the ongoing development work of in the area gas outages have become a routine matter. He also complained of the slow pace of developmental work carried by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.
