Most people had left the mosque when the bomb blew up. No reports of any injuries or casualties.

Bomb damages mosque in Bajaur

KHAR: Unidentified men partially destroyed a mosque by planting a bomb on one of its walls in Khar, Bajaur Agency late on Tuesday.

An official of the Political administration in Khar said that around 10:15pm, a bomb planted by suspected militants exploded inside the Bilal Mosque which partially damaged the boundary wall of the structure adding that no one was killed or injured.

”All the people who were offering Isha prayers had left and no one was around” he said of the time the bomb exploded.

The official said that soon after the blast people gathered at the site while some of the tribesmen rushed outside of the mosque fear a second blast, as has become the modus operandi of militants.

The official further said that paramilitary personnel reached the mosque, cordoned off the site, collected evidence, and launched a search operation in the area. However, they did not arrest anyone.

Last week, nine people were killed when a truck bomb went off in the main market of Bajaur.
