Patient woes: Doctors continue strike in Balochistan

The strike call was given in protest against the non-recovery of kidnapped surgeon.

QUETTA: Doctors in Balochistan continued their province-wide strike at state-run hospitals for the 4th consecutive day on Monday in protest against the non-recovery of kidnapped surgeon, Dr. Din Muhammad Baloch. All the OPDs remained closed while scheduled operations were cancelled. The people expressed their anger against the doctors and government for not paying any heed to the sufferings of ailing patients. The OPDs of all the major hospitals of the provincial capital, including Helper’s Eye Hospital, Bolan Medical College Teaching Hospital, Fatima Jinnah TB Sanatorium and Government Sandeman Hospital were almost deserted as doctors were not present to provide medical aid to the large number of patients. The strike call was given by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Balochistan.
