KARACHI:
The general secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Sindh, Advocate Syed Hafiz Uddin, will file a petition against the police today.
According to Hafiz Uddin, about 32 party workers were arrested by the police during their protest.
Later, the houses of 12 workers were demolished in reaction to their political activity. He alleged that the action was taken on the directives of Pakistan Peoples Party members - the Mallah brothers, who live in the area.
The police arrested PTI workers on Tuesday when they were protesting ‘peacefully’ against power outage in the area. Advocate Hafiz Uddin condemned the arrest of PTI’s protestors.
“It is the worst kind of fascism,” he said. “It is the native district of the Sindh Chief Minister and the police is powerless over the power of the rulers here.”
He told The Express Tribune that the party will file two petitions in the court - one from the complainants against the people who abducted their properties and the other from the party to ask for protection of their supporters.
“If the ruling party does not stop the oppression we will start a large protest movement.”
