The report claimed that the passport office had no role in the scam. It added that Mohammad Ali Asad – the man who claimed to have acquired a Pakistani passport on someone else’s particulars – had come to the office himself to get his passport.
Asad’s pictures and thumb prints are real and the data of the passport office and Nadra is also the same, the inquiry report claimed.
Mubashir Tirmizi, the assistant director at Garden Town, Lahore passport office, who was earlier arrested was also released.
Meanwhile, the interior ministry formulated a committee to send a legal notice to The Sun seeking Rs10 billion in damages for publishing a “fake story”. Sources said that the committee will comprise of legal experts and representatives from the interior ministry and the law ministry.
The notice is likely to be sent by next week.

@Cautious: Yes, that's exactly how it works here in UK ! But a million pound question is can they afford to come to court and under public scutiny? I guess not !
Why not ask the Pakistani Ambassador to the UK to pick up the phone and retain UK based legal council - 15 minute phone call and some money should get your law suit filed within a day. Forming committees is done for public consumption and accomplishes nothing of substance.
You don't to formulate a committee to sue an newspaper !!!! We all know as to what happens when Pakistan formulates an Committee for anything ! Zilch !!! Why not order your Country's High Commisioner to start proceedings against the Newspaper concerned? Perhaps the real answer lies in the above !
I would fully support the legal proceedings against this rhetorical tabloid that has played such a cheap shot against Pakistan. It should be banned if proven guilty!
@MY NAME IS KHAN: And why we always have to believe that we are guilty??
Pakistan is used in taking all the filth on its head from every country.
It should not be the matter of serving the legal notice but heavy damanges should be cliamed from "THE SUN" for playing with the reputation of Pakistan.
Once the money is recived from THE SUN, no one else will dare to point the finger on Pakistan.
But there should be will to do that.
People sitting at the helm of affairs in taking decision to sue THE SUN in the British Court of Law are nothing more than "SHER BANO" for me.
@Javaid Baloch: Pakistan does not need anyone to malign it - it does more then enough itself. News of the world was not banned it was shut down by the owners because it was operating in a civilised country with rules. Can you ever imagine something like that happening in pakistan?
Muhammad Ali Asad Main Character of Sun News Passport Scandal he is just thief in UK watch this video http://goo.gl/ziIOl
Make it £ 10 Bn not Rs 10 Bn if the accusation was false. Take Murdoch where he might need someone to finance his funeral.
NoWonder third class tabloids such as The Sun, The Water, The Air, News of the World etc are all just too cheap to be used by indian agencies to malign Pakistan. How in their dreams would they ever think of planing such a sting operation which is unearthed to be a fake as News of the World later got banned
Asad Ali should be brought back to Pakistan and prosecuted for defaming Pakistan.
Should we be concerned that Nadra and the Passport Office have effectively investigated and then cleared themselves of the allegations in the UK passport scam?
Why we are always proving our self innocent to the world, It means we really have a big hole somewhere.
