Danger to themselves: Three more stunt drivers killed

RAWALPINDI:

The death toll from youngsters failing in their attempts at stunt driving rose further on Monday as three young men died while doing wheelie on Peshawar Road near Chur Chowk.

On Sunday, the Waris Khan police had arrested 15 people for wheeling and rash driving. The arrested men were identified as Asad Ali, Ehsan Ahmed, Hassan, Waqar Khan, Ramesh, Usama, Muhammad Habib, Sher Muhammad, Haseeb, Kashi, Shan Ali, Basit, Ubaid, Sohaib. The police also impounded eight motorcycles that belonged to the offenders.

According to eyewitnesses and the police, the trio was attempting to navigate the busy road on one wheel when they drove straight into a Shehzore pickup ahead of them outside Rafah Mall.

After hitting the truck, the three boys went head-first into concrete blocks placed in the middle of the road as a diversion. They died on the spot.

An eyewitness said, “The accident took place at around 5:30am and all three of them were riding 125CC motorcycles.”

The deceased, all residents of Dhok Syedan, were identified as Muhammad Haleem, 22, Haris Basharat, 19, and Adil Akmal, 21.

Soon after the incident, Rescue1122 rushed to the spot and moved the bodies to District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors turned the bodies over to the families after postmortems were conducted.

Westridge Police Station House Officer Malik Allah Yar could not be contacted, but junior officials at the police station said the relatives of the deceased  took the bodies for burial and did not want to pursue legal proceedings as they accepted the incident was an accident.

At least six youngsters have lost their lives in the last four days due to illegal driving. Rawalpindi government hospitals alone treat around 100 motorcycle accident victims every day, most of whom are found to have been attempting stunts.

May Allaha rest their souls in peace and bless their families with relief which I dont think is possible of losing kids at this age.

My request to Police is that if they find boys comitting sucides like this these bikers should be charged under the sucide act and treated as criminal and not be laughed about as stunt man or young kids, if you want to do it do it in a proper place with enough safety built in so that these kids are saved in case of an accident there should be controlled environments.

Just think about your mothers before doing this stuff. 19. 22 and 21 were the ages of the guys who died and in my family my cousin died when he was 18 and i know what impact does it create on the whole family when a child with the world in front of him simply left the world for a stupid reason. Kindly use Whole safety gear and the best advice is not to indulge in such kinds of activities at all.
