Australia’s Big Bash League side Sydney Thunder secured two of the biggest names in Twenty20 cricket, Chris Gayle and all-rounder Shahid Afridi, for their upcoming season, according to ESPNcricinfo. Afridi said he was looking forward to joining the Thunder which would be his third stint in the Australian domestic Twenty20 league. “I am looking forward to playing in Sydney for the Thunder and helping them earn the bragging rights over city rivals, the Sixers,” said Afridi. Gayle was a vital contributor for Thunder last summer, topping their run tally with 252 at an average of 42, and the presence of the exciting Pakistani all-rounder alongside him will be cause for concern among opposition attacks.
