Nawaz Sharif urges US to pursue policy of mutual trust, respect with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President, Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has called upon the United States to pursue a policy of mutual respect and mutual trust with Pakistan, as only such a policy can restore cooperation between them and thereby serve the cause of peace and stability in the region.

Nawaz made this remark during a farewell call on him by the outgoing US Ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter. The meeting was also attended by Dr Marilyn Wyatt, wife of the US Ambassador and Opposition Leader in Senate Ishaq Dar.

During the course of the meeting, the PML-N president emphasised the need for the US to re-orient its policies towards Pakistan in a manner that strengthens the country's democratic institutions and decrease its economy’s dependence on foreign aid.

The US Ambassador spoke of his admiration for the people of Pakistan adding that he was deeply impressed by the enormous changes taking place in the country which made him confident that it was headed in the right direction.
