Depression: Teenaged girl commits suicide

The dead body was shifted to district headquarter hospital DHQ for postmortem.

RAWALPINDI:
A teenager allegedly committed suicide on Saturday by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house in Raheemabad, the police said. Sumaira Iqbal, 19, was found hanged by her dupatta by family members who came to her room to wake her up in the morning. According to Airport Police Sub Inspector Muhammad Khan, Sumera Iqbal was living with her father, Iqbal Hussain, and elder sister in Raheemabad. She had been depressed since her mother died one-and-a-half years ago. On the day of incident, Sumera got up at Sehri (before dawn) and prepared breakfast for her family, said Khan, who is investigating the case. “She spoke about how she could observe a fast without her mother around before going to her room on the first floor. There the girl tied her dupatta by a ceiling fan and committed suicide by hanging, the police officer said. The dead body was shifted to district headquarter hospital DHQ for postmortem and was later handed over to her family.
