Fasting in jail: Arrangements for Ramazan in prisons

IG Prisons Punjab says services of religious scholars and Hafiz-e-Quran had been acquired for special programme

LAHORE: The Prisons Department of Punjab has made elaborate arrangements for Sehr, Iftar and prayers for 52,237 prisoners in 34 jails across province during Ramazan. IG Prisons Punjab, Mian Farooq Nazeer on Thursday said services of religious scholars and Hafiz-e-Quran had been acquired for special programmes in jails during the holy month. The IG Prisons said food, as prescribed under the jail manual, would be served during the Ramazan.

Ironic that some of the rapists, murderers and God knows what, want to fast but as soon as they are released, revert to their 'professions' again as proved by the recidivism rate.
