Ramazan security plan: 18 mosques in Gilgit declared sensitive

GILGIT: Security forces have declared 18 mosques in Gilgit sensitive and have deployed over 400 armed policemen across the city to ensure peace during the fasting month. “This is part of the contingency plan that we have developed to ensure peace in the capital city during Ramazan,” DIG Ali Sher told journalists on Thursday. The selected mosques will be under surveillance especially during taraveeh and morning prayers. A total of 20 mobile squads will patrol the roads round-the-clock in the district, said the official, adding that a control room has been set up in the city that would be manned by senior police officials.
