While negotiations have reportedly begun to bring in an interim government to overlook the upcoming parliamentary polls, social media has unleashed a frenzy of opinion polls regarding the most favoured choice for a caretaker prime minister.
A survey conducted on the social networking website Facebook revealed on Wednesday that a majority of respondents are vouching for prominent intellectual Javed Jabbar.
Jabbar, who was once associated with the Pakistan Peoples Party, is the leading choice amid three other potential candidates with a total number of 60 votes in just the first couple of hours of initiating the poll.
The other two popular candidates are former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jahangir and former finance minister Shaukat Tarin with 40 and 39 votes, respectively.
Pakistan’s permanent representative in the United Nations Hussain Haroon finished at the bottom of the poll with 16 respondents wanting to see him occupy the key slot.
Media reports published recently suggested the names of Asma Jahangir and Hussain Haroon were being considered for the post of caretaker prime minister.
Jahangir, however, who is known for her blunt criticism of the Supreme Court’s recent rulings, denied having any knowledge of such developments: “It cannot be true because I don’t know anything about it.”

Mr.Haves Jabbar can be good candidate for PM. However Mr.Achakzai can also prove to be good candidate.
why not asghar khan
Ideally there should be no need for an interim PM at the end of every term. Chief Election Commissioner can and should be able to do the same by having all the executive powers.
Anyone else but not Asma Jahangir
Facebook users make up a vocal, but tiny minority of Pakistan; most of them are armchair activists with either a utopian or conspiracy-theorist world view. Spoiled kids on Facebook need not be given so much attention.
really? 60 votes on facebook counts as valid news nowadays?
We need care taker PM who is un biased and strong enough to force impartiallity! Asma is highly biased! Shaukat Tareen is a good banker, JJ is good choice though dont know he will not be biased as he is from PP but i guess let go by BB and PPP a while ago. Anyone will better than what we have now :)
The interim Prime Minister should be either from Balochistan or Pakhtunkhwa / FATA. I would suggest the name of Mir Jan Mohammad Jamali, who as deputy has a proven record of an unbiased and non partisan parlimentarian. Some one from Pakhtunkhwa can also suggest good names. The name of Alam Jan Masud from FATA could also be suggested.
None of them. JJ's name is being floated by the powerful quarters.
