Eighteen fuel trucks and four supply vehicles were parked in Aibak, the capital of Samangan province, when a bomb ripped through them, wounding one person, local police said.
"At 2am the mujahideen attacked the invader NATO trucks," the Taliban said in a statement, referring to the wagons which had been driven from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan's north.
The trucks were attacked in the same province where prominent anti-Taliban lawmaker Ahmad Khan Samangani was killed on Saturday at his daughter's wedding, in a suicide bomb attack that killed 22 other guests.
"We believe the Taliban carried this out. Eighteen trucks have been totally destroyed, the rest were damaged by fire," Samangan police chief Khalil Andarabi told Reuters.
Separately, police in neighbouring Baghlan province said they had detained 10 suspected Taliban members with so-called magnetic bombs, which they were trying to attach to supply trucks.
Pakistan recently reopened its border crossings with Afghanistan for NATO supplies after shutting them in November after a US airstrike unintentionally killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.

It is interesting that NATO/America/Zion can go around the Middle-East/South Asia bombing and polluting various countries with nuclear weapons, which will pollute those countries for thousands of years, but nobody seems to worry about it, and the best they can come up with is to use disparaging remarks such as those savage Taliban, or the American occupation is providing jobs. They may be right on both counts, but I would suggest that these are relatively minor items compared to the horrendous problems being inflicted upon Pakistan/Afghanistan by CentCom.
@MA: "How do we know it was done by Taliban? Any proof? If there is an organised & impeccable Taliban force behind such incidents, fetch any media reach there and hear out what they want !!"
This is their full time Job, some of them work for Mullahs, some work for Mullahs who follow ISI and Army. Every one involved in this war is there to make money.
They may say we want USA/NATO to leave but deep down they want them to stay because thousands of Pakistanis making lot of money.
Some Pakistani/Afghanis who go to Afghanistan to work as translators from US make close to $200,000 dolarrs per year.
Lot of people working for US may be related to these Mullahs or high level Paki officials.
@Maher: What is excellent about this? Pakistan or Afghanistan lost $4 million dollars. Many Muslim truck drivers lost their job. Are you going to give some zakat to those Muslims.
Thousands of Muslims get to have money because of NATO supplies.
Talibans are trained to kill. I just saw a video where a 22 yr wife of a taliban was shot dead for sleeping with other talibans. Go search and see it.
Talibans are trained to kill or beat people. If Americans and NATO forces live they will start killing and beating regular people. Looks like this time around Pakistan will also get a taste of what talibans can do.

According to Washington Post
“We put explosives on a fuel tanker. When it exploded, we fired on the trucks,” Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told The Associated Press by telephone.
Some one is supposed to provide security. Did the tankers came directly from Pakistan?
@kafantaris: what you can also take to the bank pillock is several 9mm snub nosed rounds buried in your flesh
@Cautious: Thanks once again for the absolute clap trap from the Pentagon representative! It is not within the remit of the UN to authorize invasions or wars. It violates the Charter of the UN. When the rule of law is enforced I will be pleased to attend your trial for aiding and abetting war crimes!
@Cautious: Dear Cautious, I would be grateful if you would advise me when the American attack on Afghanistan was approved by the U.N.. My understanding of what happened is that the war in Afghanistan was devised and directed by the United Sates.when it invoked Article 5 of the North Atlantic (Washington) Treaty on October 4th 2001. As a result many Western countries (can we call them poodles) did what they were told by Washington. There is no U.N. Security Council resolution authorizing the U.S., or any other country, to attack Afghanistan that I am aware of. To be fair, I must admit that the situation does become a little muddled, because much later than the Afghan invasion the United States has managed to push through some resolutions because of its strength and influence, but there are other International laws which negate them. I think if you look closely into the Afghan invasion it is a clear case of might is right.
How do we know it was done by Taliban? Any proof? If there is an organised & impeccable Taliban force behind such incidents, fetch any media reach there and hear out what they want !!
Who says Taliban have been weakened and their backbone has been broken and who says that Taliban can't win the war against US and NATO in Afghanistan??????? Pakistan has been defamed just for nothing regarding NATO's supply's trucks security whereas NATO's and US' forces even can't secure NATO's trucks within Afghanistan....... US' and NATO's officials first revamp your own weaknesses then talk about the others.......
@Caribbean Critic.
Nice rant - when you come up for air you might check out the following link which will explain exactly why your dead wrong --- the USA is in Afghanistan leading an international force with the approval of the United Nations. . http://www.isaf.nato.int/
@US Centcom: What absolute nonsense coming from Cent-com, You are fighting an illegal war! you are illegally occupying Afghanistan! Your troops daily commit heinous war crimes! given that in doing so your forces expose them selves to assassination to prevent further war crimes in line with the Articles of the Geneva conventions. The Taliban are fighting a war criminal occupation where torture is endemic by US forces. The Geneva conventions clearly describe the Taliban as an irregular force they are not terrorists they are an irregular force of civilian fighters countering war criminals, just as the Marque (french underground were) when fighting the Nazis You cent-com leaders are just the new Himmler ,Goebbels and Adolf and deserving of facing the ICC for your crimes against humanity!
The Taliban just blew up 22 trucks and caused a four million dollar loss. It also caused more hardship to the ordinary people of Afghanistan. Those who are cheering the destruction of our trucks with their vital cargo should note that we had left our roads in disrepair, our classrooms overcrowded and our fire departments empty to set aside money to rebuild the faraway places forsaken by others. We don't mind the sacrifice to do this, but we do mind the ingratitude. And we intend to do something about it -- not only against the Taliban savages, but also against all others who support them. You can take that to the bank.
@answr. Your ignorance is showing. The American's don't need a draft and there has been no serious discussion of implementing a draft. Further -- the American casualty death rate in Afghanistan is very low - in fact you have a better chance of dying from suicide in the American military than dying in combat in Afghanistan. As far as Russia or China interjecting high tech weapons to the Taliban - that's nonsense - both China and Russia have their own problems with Islamic extremist and are closer allies to the USA than Pakistan.
Blake is correct. US will never achieve anything in Afghanistan and had it not been for all the wetbacks looking for a green card who end up here, US would be seriously considering the draft or RE-draft as it should be called. Russia and China are waiting for the right time to inject some high tech weapons and then its a coup-de-grace. Learn now, negotiate your exit with least bloodshed.
Dear Sexton:
Your suggestion that the U.S. should go home falls exactly in line with the agenda of these terrorists. You must realize that this is exactly what these terrorists want us to do. This act of terror is another desperate attempt to hamper progress in Afghanistan and the region. Our decision to renew our ties has sent them into panic mode. The series of attacks since the reopening of the GLOC proves that these terrorists are fearful, and realize the impact our combined efforts can have on their terrorist activities. In turn, they have stepped up these attacks in an attempt to curtail our renewed cooperation and spread chaos and panic among the public. But these terrorists must be unaware of our resilience against terrorism. We have come too far and made too many sacrifices to now let these terrorists deter us from achieving our shared objectives. We hope to see the coming days prove productive in terms of our renewed alliance. We hope to see both of our nations supporting each other in tackling these terrorists. We have no doubt that we can succeed against our common enemies through mutual cooperation.
The Americans are slow learners aren't they? Why don't they do everybody a favor and go home? They will go home eventually. Why perpetuate the suffering for people in South Asia, as well as themselves? Is it possible the people in Washington and Cent-Com. are low functioning?
I guess some one did not get their share of money from NATO supplies. It is all about money.
Excellent !!
some committed effort for a bad act
