Azeem Ghuman, who also led the Pakistan Under-19 team to the final of the World Cup, has said that this is tougher challenge as they compete at the top level. “I know it would be a tough challenge but we have experienced players in our side,” Ghuman told The Express Tribune.
“Aamir Sajjad and Khurram Manzoor have played a lot of cricket, as well as fast-bowler Mohammad Irfan, who will be our main weapon,” said Ghuman. “And even though we were forced to hold indoor practice sessions due to the monsoon rains, I am confident that the results will be great.”
The team will enter the tournament without four of their senior-most players - Kashif Siddiq Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz and Abdur Rehman, who were part of the side for the UAE tour against England Lions where the ‘A’ team secured a 2-1 series win.
According to the chief selector Mohsin Khan, the team has been picked from among the best players in the domestic circuit in a bid to prepare a national team for the future.
