Asha Bhosle promises to attend Indian Idol contestant’s wedding

The 17-year-old was overjoyed when the legend gave him an early wedding gift.

NEW DEHLI: Asha Bhosle is a singing legend held in high reverence in India admired by all singers,  young and old. During her career, which easily spans over six decades, she has lent her voice as a playback singer in more than a thousand B-town movies as well as some evergreen, never-to-be-forgotten songs.

So when she promised a very special gift for and “Indian Idol 6” contestant, Devendra Pal Singh and said that she would attend his wedding whenever it happens, the 17-year-old was absolutely over the moon.

The mischievous Devendra was up to some antics in the second gala round of the popular singing reality show when judges Anu Malik and Salim Merchant began pulling his leg. They teased him for being young and yet always opting to sing songs of a more ‘serious’ nature.

Show hosts Hussain Kuwajerwala and Mini Mathur also joined in the fun by saying that by the time he reaches a marriageable age, he will finally understand the meaning of the songs he chooses to sing.

It was at this point that Asha interrupted and said she will attend Devendra’s wedding when the time comes, quoted a source from the sets. After hearing this, the youngster’s happiness knew no bounds as he probably considered himself the luckiest contestant in the competition so far.
