Snooker: Amir, Majid off to winning starts

Pakistan’s Hunain Amir and Mohammad Majid got off to terrific starts in the World U21 Snooker Championship after winning their opening group matches in Wuxi, China.


Amir, who is the national junior champion, defeated UAE’s Omer Ahmed Hashem 4-0. Majid, too, won 4-0 against Libya’s Alaeddin Wali. Majid has been involved in domestic events going into this championship while Amir was unable to take part in ranking events due to his studies. However, both players had received training from former world amateur champion Mohammad Yousuf prior to their departure for the championship.Amir will take on Belan Sharif while Majid is up against Mitchell Mann.
