Police promotions: Inspectors file contempt plea

LHC issued contempt notices to the home secretary and the inspector general of Punjab Police for September 27

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday issued contempt notices to the home secretary and the inspector general of Punjab Police for September 27 for defying an earlier order regarding the promotion of four police inspectors. The order was issued during the hearing of a petition filed by the inspectors who have sought action against the government officials for non-compliance. They contended that the court had directed the authorities concerned to send their names to the departmental promotion committee but the officials hadn’t done so.
