KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has asked Sindh Inspector General of Police Fayyaz Leghari to increase patrolling during the month of Ramazan. At a meeting held at the Chief Minister House on Thursday, Leghari was directed to set up pickets in ‘sensitive areas’ to curb extortionists and street crime in the city. He was also asked to maintain security arrangements at trade centres, commercial markets and wholesale markets, particularly in the old city area. The chief minister directed the police department to brief the media every day about its progress and achievements in fighting crime. Shah said that the law enforcement agencies  should take prompt action against ‘criminals and anti-social elements on a war footing’.  IG Leghari assured the chief minister that security measures will be implemented during Ramazan and also briefed him about the police’s plan to maintain law and order in the province.
