Reconditioned vehicles: KMC to purchase ambulances

Under the agreement, 100 ambulances have been procured for Karachi hospitals.

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has decided to purchase reconditioned ambulance cars from Scotland for its hospitals and dispensaries in Karachi.

KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed held a meeting with the head of the Scotland Ambulance Services in the presence of senior officers from Pakistan and Scotland and finalised the details of the deal, according to a press release.

The administrator said the KMC presently runs 13 big hospitals and 346 small medical institutions, including maternity homes, dispensaries and clinics, for which at least 200 ambulances are required. He said that the Scotland Ambulance Services has expressed readiness to provide the reconditioned ambulance with necessary equipment at Rs0.4m a piece.

Under the agreement, 100 ambulances have been procured for Karachi hospitals.
