First batch of NATO containers reaches Kabul

Containers were cleared after a routine screening at the border point by concerned officials.

LANDI KOTAL: The first batch of Nato containers reached Afghan capital Kabul on Thursday via the Pak-Afghan border Torkhum amid tight security, official sources said.    

The first consignment of the Nato supply left Torkhum border ten days after the Pakistani government decided to reopen the supply route.

The official of administration of Khyber Agency and National Logistic Cell told APP that containers were cleared after a routine screening at the border point by the concerned officials.

It was told on the occasion that edibles and other necessary goods were being transported in the containers for the Nato and ISAF forces in Afghanistan.

The containers were duly escorted right from Peshawar to Torkhum border by the Khasadars and levies force.
