Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen on Wednesday urged ulema to promote unity and tolerance to ensure a peaceful atmosphere during Ramazan.

Speaking at a meeting of the District Peace Committee, Tareen said that ulema had an essential role in maintaining peace and harmony. He said that if people adopted the teachings of Islam in their true spirit, there would be no more terrorism or crime. He hoped that the religious leaders would play their part in ensuring peace during Ramazan.

The city’s police chief assured the ulema that their mosques would get security during the holy month, particularly during prayer and taraveeh timings.
