Deputy District Health Officer, Ubaidullah Nashnas confirmed the deaths of the children in Pishin and said the other 200 were being treated in government hospitals.
The disease spread from the Killi Kamalzai area of Pishin district, where the children drank polluted water, officials said. Talking to The Express Tribune, Director General (DG) Health, Amanullah Kakar said that a team of doctors had been sent to Pishin on Wednesday morning. He claimed that the situation is under control in the area where doctors are providing treatment to people in medical camps.
In another case, a man died in Sibi after suffering from a waterborne disease. “We have sufficient medicines but I can not rule out an outbreak of epidemics because a large number of people have been affected and victims are coming from other province as well,” Amanullah said.
