Motorway: Stolen vehicles, drugs seized

ISLAMABAD: The National Highways & Motorway Police arrested three persons in two separate incidents and recovered two stolen vehicles and a large quantity of drugs on Saturday. The first incident took place when the police when they intercepted a speeding vehicle (VF-085) on Motorway and signalled it to slow down. However, the two passengers opened fire at the police and tried to escape. Following a brief chase, the police managed to stop the vehicle. One of the suspects managed to escape, while the other — identified as 25-year-old Ajmal, an Afghan national, was taken into custody. During investigations, Ajmal revealed that the vehicle was bearing a fake registration plate which belonged to another stolen vehicle. In the second incident, the police stopped a Toyota Corolla (B-1601) at a checkpoint and upon inspection, seized 10 packets of hashish, each carrying one kilogram, from its fuel tank. The police also arrested two suspects; Badshah Rehman and Abdullah, and impounded the vehicle.
