KARACHI: Facing acute shortage of water, the people of Gwadar have been compelled to migrate to other places, according to Senator Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo, the senior vice president of the National Party (NP). “We’ll hold protests across Balochistan and will call a strike in a few days if the federal and provincial governments don’t resolve the issue,” he warned, while speaking at a press conference on Sunday. “The federal and provincial governments should immediately provide water to people from Mirani Dam.” Currently, water is being supplied to the area via tankers. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had recently organised a conference in Lahore for discussing Gwadar port. Bizenjo criticised the party and said that all politicians, including Nawaz Sharif, had claimed the port to suit their own visions of politics.
