Pakistani Goods: US urged to grant duty-free access

LAHORE:

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has on Saturday urged the US to take immediate measures to grant duty-free access to Pakistani merchandise, which would help overcome the latter’s economic woes.

In a statement issued here, LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that Pakistan needs extraordinary cooperation from the US, as it was a frontline ally facing the brunt of the war on terror.

“Market access will help rehabilitate damaged industrial infrastructure, besides generating jobs for the unemployed,” he said.

Sheikh said that if the US comes forward at a time when Pakistan is passing through challenging times, trade, economic and cultural ties between the two countries would flourish further.
