ISLAMABAD:

Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has directed all public hospitals in the capital to ensure that medical practitioners strictly observe their duty hours and are available six days a week.

Talking to The Express Tribune on Friday an official of CADD said have been asked to strictly follow the directives, failing which strict action will be taken against violators. Senior CADD officials will pay surprise visits to hospitals to keep a check, he added. Surgeons who have to carry out surgeries will be the only ones allowed to be absent from their offices.

CADD officials, while on a visit to a public hospital, observed that some senior doctors avoid performing their duties and give preference to private clinics.
