MOSCOW: Antonina Krivoshapka has won the Russian women’s 400-metre title at the national athletics championships at Cheboksary, clocking the season’s best time to finish ahead of Yulia Gushchina. “I was hoping to for a top-class result as I felt ready for it,” said Krivoshapka. “I worked really hard to gain this form. My coach told me I was ready to run really fast and I believe my coach 100 per cent. It was pretty hard in the final metres but I managed to hold out and win.” Maxim Dyldin of the Perm region won the men’s 400m to clinch an Olympic berth together with second-placed Pavel Trenikhin.
