Law And Order: CM’s chief security officer hurt in blast

The chief security officer of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was injured by a small explosive device at his house on Wednesday night, the police said.


Major (retired) Maaz was leaving his house at 34 Karim Block, Allama Iqbal Town when a household worker noticed something fall off the bottom off the car.

Maaz, called by his sister and informed that a part of his car had fallen off, came back shortly to pick up the part.

SSP (Operations) Babar Bakht Qureshi said that Maaz was examining the device when he dropped it and it exploded.

The blast left windows in his house broken and a Suzuki Cultus badly damaged.

Neighbours said that the blast was very loud and they had expected to see more physical damage.

Dr Saeed Elahi, a PML-N MPA, said that Maaz had severe injuries to his legs as well as wounds to his back and ear, but he was out of danger.

Inspector General of Punjab Police Habibur Rehman said an investigation team had been set up.
