Asian forum: SC becomes regional body member

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has become a member of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC), according to a press release issued on Wednesday. 

The members of the AACC in its meeting held in May 2012 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, unanimously accepted the membership of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by delegations of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea, the Federal Court of Malaysia, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Constitutional Court of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The AACC is an Asian regional forum for constitutional justice established in July 2010 to promote the development of democracy, rule of law and fundamental rights in Asia.
