Football: Young Rising Star, Eagle FC to contest final

KARACHI: Defending champions Young Rising Star FC and Eagle FC qualified for the Islamabad-leg final of the PFF Inter-club Football Championship after both teams won two of their group matches.

With a total of six points in the bag, Young Rising Star FC and Eagle FC will contest the final, which takes place tomorrow, and will vie for a place in the second round of the championship that starts in September. The second round will be contested among the top clubs from Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Bahawalpur and two teams from Karachi.

Meanwhile, in other group matches Soccer Queens FC and Frontier College FC played out a 1-1 draw in their last match of the tournament. After a dull first half, Sidra Jan scored the opening goal of the match in the 49th minute for Frontier College FC. However, Hina Qasim equalised in the 71st minute.
