1,000 ration bags for flood survivors

Most schools and colleges in interior Sindh have been converted into relief camps, thereby putting off classes.

KARACHI: The Public Private Schools Association Sindh has decided to collect 1,000 family ration cartons at private schools across the city. The plan, made in collaboration with the Directorate Private Institutions Education Department, was announced by the president of the association, Haider Ali, at a meeting on Tuesday.

Speakers at the meeting also discussed the affect of the flood on education. Most government schools and colleges in interior Sindh have been converted into relief camps, thereby putting off classes for an indefinite period of time. Keeping in mind the adverse affect on students, speakers suggested that private schools in Sindh should accommodate government schools’ students.

Centres where donations for ration packs can be made include Bilal Public School Gulshan Hadeed (Bin Qasim Town), Prince Oxford School (Landhi Town), BBS Jam Murad Goth (Gadap Town), Millat School Drigh Road (Shah Faisal Town), Jinnah Public School Dalmia (Gulshan Iqbal Town), New Romi School (Korangi Town), Ayub Model School (Jamshed Town), Metro Police Academy (Gulberg Town), Winner Grammar School (Baldia Town), GBSS (Keamari Town), Al Ghazi Public School (Orangi Town) and Sir Syed Children Academy Nazimabad (Liaquatabad Town).

The meeting was attended by the association’s deputy president Sadiq Hussain, general secretary Shahab Iqbal, Dr Zulfiqar Ali, Maghfoor Najeeb, Abbas Naqvi, Muslim Mujahid and others.
