An Anti Terrorism Court on Tuesday sent a man to jail for 14 years and his mother for three years after they were found guilty of throwing acid at a girl due to which she had gotten blind in an eye.
The court directed the man, Danish, to pay Rs1m and the woman, Nasreen, Rs20,000 as compensation to the victim. The convicts were also fined Rs50,000. Manga Mandi police said Nasreen and the victim had worked together at a factory and often visited each other. They said on June 5, 2011, Danish had tried to rape the victim, while she was visiting their house. When she screamed for help, he and Nasreen threw acid at her.
